Incisive, engaging, passionate. Di Simpson is a highly regarded family lawyer and solicitor advocate. Di has practised exclusively in family law since 1992 and draws on this wealth of experience when assisting clients and mentoring other practitioners within the firm.

Di has a sophisticated understanding of parenting laws and the complex issues which commonly arise when families are in crisis including family violence (including coercive control, physical and sexual abuse), mental health challenges, substance use, parental alienation and relocation.

Di’s talent is in the art of persuasion. She develops refined, nuanced and persuasive legal arguments to achieve your objective and delivers those arguments effectively, whether in Court, in negotiations or during alternate dispute resolution processes.

In June 2021, Di was elected the Chair of the Family Law Section (FLS) Executive, a section of the Law Council of Australia (the peak national body for lawyers), having first been elected to the Executive in November 2016. In that role, Di is engaged with government, the court and other bodies with respect to family law reform and policy implementation.

Di is a member of the ACT Law Society’s Legal Profession Act and Ethics (LPA&E) Committee, the Family Law Committee (and a former Chair) and is a member of the ACT Women Lawyers’ Association and the Canberra and Region Family Lawyers and Professionals Association (CRFLPA).
