James has worked exclusively in family law since late 2020 and draws on a wealth of experience in assisting clients with challenging and complex family law matters.

James graduated from the University of Canberra in 2020 where he completed his Honours thesis in family law, reviewing the impacts of coercive control on the mental health of mothers. James received the ACT Supreme Court Judges’ Prize for his work, awarded to the student who received the highest results for a thesis. James has gone on to publish his findings, co-writing an article in the Australian Journal of Family Law.

James has experience across all practice in family law, including complex parenting and property matters. He is a skilled and proficient litigator and negotiator, and has a considered and compassionate approach to his representation of clients, supported by his rigorous legal research skills, analytical and drafting skills.

James has recent experience and success in adoption matters before the Supreme Court of the ACT, and regularly appears in the ACT Magistrates Court and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in family violence, parenting and property matters.
